Who Still Says Google Does Not Penalize Duplicate Contents?

I am of the believe that we have not yet seen the end to discussions and arguments on the topic of duplicate contents. Even though Matt Cutts of Google has been extremely vocal about it yet a number of people still maintain that they succeed to rank their websites simply by distributing duplicate contents around the web and linking back to their websites.

Duplicate Contents – To Avoid Or Not?

I recently visited a blog post Duplicate Content Case Study by Jonathan Leger. I think this post should be read by anybody who is still in doubts about duplicate contents and why you should at least spin your articles with an article rewriter in order to avoid Google duplicate content penalty.

After reading Jon Leger’s post I remembered that I once got an email from a blog owner to whose list i am subscribed offering a plugin that pulls articles from around the net. To support his claim, he showed screen shots and videos. He claimed to have propelled his sites to the first pages of Google within just a few days. I will not mention the plugin in question because i don’t want to mislead people. I wanted to buy the plugin because I am not a good writer and thought that should help me but I declined. I am glad I did.

I went to the site where the plugin was being sold, it was gone. I went to the sites that were supposed to have been propelled to top Google pages, they were gone! I did searches like “site:the domain” Google didn’t return anything other than “Your search – site:the domains – did not match any documents!”

What Is This Telling Us?

  • 1. Either the guy is trying to dupe people out of their money which I believe is so and had to take down the selling page in order to avoid prosecution after tricking a few people or he ran out of business when people discovered his dubious intention.
  • 2. The sites he claimed to have ranked on Google were de-indexed by Google after the Panda update. I am sure this is what happened because I actually saw the sites then but today they were nowhere.
  • 3. This is a confirmation that Google frowns on duplicate content and therefore you should try to avoid the practice if you take your internet interest seriously.

I am glad I bought an article spinner which helps me to create unique contents The Magic Article Rewriter which I think should be a tool every serious webmaster should use.
